Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How do I join Thea Meulenberg Casting’s talent pool?
A:
You can apply to join our talent pool by submitting your profile through our website at Sign Up. Our casting directors review all submissions and will contact you via email.

Q: What is a casting?
A: A casting allows clients to see and hear you before making a final decision, especially for commercials. You can present yourself through a live casting in our studio or via e-casting, which includes self-tape submissions. A self-tape is an audition video you create yourself. Please note that castings do not offer financial compensation.

Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of making a self-tape?
A: Self-taping is a fast, flexible, and cost-effective way to audition. You save on travel time, can choose when to record, and can redo takes if needed. However, you won’t receive real-time feedback from the director. For tips on making a great self-tape, click here.

Q: How do I prepare for a casting?
A: Thea Meulenberg Casting provides clear instructions about the role, scene, script, clothing, and makeup for every casting. After your audition, avoid changing your appearance (e.g., haircut, beard) without informing us. If you have injuries or changes to your appearance, always let us know in advance.

Q: How long does a live casting usually take?
A: Castings typically last between 10 to 20 minutes in the casting studio, but it’s a good idea to arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in and get settled. Always allow extra time in your schedule in case there are any delays.

Q: What is an ‘option’?
A: Being placed ‘in option’ means a client is interested in you, and you should keep the specified date available. While your chances of being selected increase, it's not a guaranteed booking. Stay easily reachable during this time.

Q: How often should I update my profile?
A: Talents under 18 should update their profiles at least every 6 months. For those over 18, once a year is sufficient. Always ensure your contact details, measurements, and appearance information are up to date, so you don’t miss out on exciting opportunities.

Q: How can I update my profile?
A: You can send your latest measurements (height, shoe, and clothing sizes) and at least six recent high-quality color photos or YouTube links to updated videos/showreels (without your contact details) via www.wetransfer.com or email us at info@theameulenberg.com. To maintain quality, we handle profile updates ourselves.

Q: Why can’t I post about my shoot on social media?
A: Confidentiality is key for all assignments. Once the shoot is approved and goes live, you’ll typically be allowed to post about it. Please check with us before sharing anything online.

Q: Where can I find your General Terms and Conditions?
A: You agree to our General Terms and Conditions for talents when completing the final step of the registration form.

Q: How does it work with children on set?
A: Thea Meulenberg Casting, the production team, and parents/guardians are all responsible for ensuring compliance with child labor laws. Violations can result in fines from the Dutch Labor Inspectorate, imposed on both the employer and the parents. For more detailed information, visit www.arbeidsinspectie.nl.

Q: What do these film terms mean?
